Call for Applications for the AUEB Teacher Education Program of the Academic Year 2017-18

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

FOR THE AUEB TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2017-2018

TO ALL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS OF ALL AUEB DEPARTMENTS

Undergraduate students (7th and 8th semesters) of all AUEB Departments who are interested in attending the Teacher Education Program, are called to apply for the Selection Process for the Practical Exercise Course in Teaching I at their Departments' Secretariats exclusively from September 1 to September 15, 2017. Candidates will be selected in accordance with the Senate desicion of 18/4/2013

The number of admissions for the 2017-2018 academic year is set at 80 students.

After this deadline, students will not be able to participate in the assessment process for the Practical Course in Teaching I and II for the 2017-2018 academic year. The application is provided by the Secretariats of the Departments and should be accompanied by a file with the following supporting documents:

  1. Detailed score and
  2. Two ID cards with a backdrop: name, surname, department and registration number.

The AUEB Teacher Education Program, which started the academical year 2011-2012, focuses on Education Sciences and Teaching Practice. It leads to obtaining a Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence - Certificate in Education Sciences according to Law 3848/2010 (Government Gazette 689 / Τ.B '/ 26-03-2013 of 39460 / Γ2 / 21-03-2013 Ministerial Decision).

The Program is a one-year program (2 semesters) and consists of the following two modules:

a. Pedagogical competence. It consists, for the two semesters, of a total of eight (8) courses in Education Sciences, 2 hours of weekly teaching per each in conjunction with work carried out in public schools. These courses can be attended by students of all years..

b. Teaching competence. It consists ,for the two semesters, of the lessons "Practical Teaching"  PAD I (winter semester) and "Practical Teaching" PAD II (spring semester). The courses are analyzed in a network of theoretical, practical and experiential teaching activities with increasing difficulty in real school environments. Monitoring of PAD I and II is mandatory.

A key objective of the AUEB Teacher Education Program is to open a new professional horizon for AUEB graduates, with the training of competent scientists and teachers, who will be able to meet the future needs of Greek education.

The classes Practical Teaching I and II are only for graduate students (7th, 8th semester) of the 8 AUEB Departments and students are only selected by this application.

A key criterion and success factor of both the Program and every future teacher is love for education and young people. These virtues are sought to be strengthened and cultivated through this program.
