Launch of EIT Climate-KIC Education programme "Young Innovators"

Dear RIS Community,

In the week of Climate Action mobilization and in between the 2 big days of strike on the 20th and 27th September, while the Youth Climate Summit at the UN headquarters has already shared important insights, we are glad to share with you EIT Climate-KIC commitment to work with youngsters using all the means we have and challenging ourselves to test even more.

Please, read through, and get in touch with us should you see potential in joining us in this fundamental action.

We would like to share with you the launch of the new EIT Climate-KIC Education programme “Young Innovators” that empowers youth to reduce climate change through innovation and to boost the skills of young people and prepare them for leading roles in climate innovation. We have a devoted website <https://younginnovators.climate-kic.org/> to be used as a generic introduction to the programme.

During 2019, we are working with partners in Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Spain and UK and we are now looking for more partners and organisations, learning designers and trainers, cities and companies, schools and universities from all around Europe and beyond to join our ecosystem and support these young people on their paths to be Young Innovators for a change. There are two opportunities to get a first glimpse of the programme:

  *   Attend one of our Young Climathons and see young people working on current climate related challenges (please check out the following webpage<https://climathon.climate-kic.org/en/young-innovators-climathon/young-innovators-climathon> where you can see a map with all the Young Climathons happening in 2019)
  *   Attend our Workshop on “Empowering for change – New skills for climate action and whole systems transformation” on 17 October 2019 in Brussels (see agenda enclosed) where we draw in experts, professionals and organisations that can help build solutions around barriers to change the education system – using some of the tools and methodology we are using in the Young Innovators programme to explore this.
  *   And last but not least, you will see the new call for proposals being sent out with a call section on Young Innovators very soon. So watch out, the first step of the call for proposals will be opening in the next couple of days as Expression of Interest. More info will be following soon!

If you would like to learn more about the programme and are looking to be part of the Young Innovators ecosystem – please contact the Young Innovators team under younginnovators@climate-kic.org<mailto:younginnovators@climate-kic.org>.

Yours
