Prof. Phoebe Koundouri: Ambassador for the European Research Council (ERC)

Prof. Phoebe Koundouri is truly honoured to have been selected as one of the 32 inaugural Ambassadors for the European Research Council (ERC).

This new initiative, launched by the ERC and the Association of ERC Grantees (AERG), brings together researchers from 21 EU Member States and 5 Associated Countries to promote frontier research and its essential role in shaping Europe’s future.

As an ERC Synergy Grantee for the ERC Water Futures project — the world’s largest research project on next-generation urban water systems — Prof. Koundouri is deeply committed to advancing science that delivers practical, transformative solutions.

Includes 17 women and 15 men across a wide range of disciplines, from life sciences and engineering to social sciences and the humanities.
