Artificial Intelligence in Action!

On Monday, May 19th, as part of the course “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Algorithms” taught by Professor Nikolaos Korfiatis, students of the MSc in Digital Transformation at AUEB attended an outstanding presentation by Uni Systems.

The presentation focused on:

• the application of Machine Learning algorithms in real business environments

• the use of recommender systems and word embeddings for analyzing user preferences

• AI use cases in the public sector

As Professor Korfiatis characteristically noted: “This last point is particularly important in the field of service evaluation, as embedding models allow us to uncover the multilayered and contextual information contained within free-form user reviews. This technology is finding increasing applications in the public sector as well, with a recent example being the initiative for evaluating public services, where citizen opinion analysis can support improvements in service experience and more effective policy-making.”

The session concluded with a fruitful discussion on career prospects in the AI field and the value of bridging theory with practice.
