    15th United Nations Climate Change Global Innovation Hub Systemic Innovation Workshop – UNGA & Climate Week NYC

    The 15th Systemic Innovation Workshop focused on how innovative financial instruments — including those emerging from Article 6 of the Paris Agreement — can drive the development and large-scale deployment of transformative climate and sustainability innovations.

    The workshop emphasized the role of results-based financial frameworks in unlocking public and private capital to accelerate breakthrough solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation.

    Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri delivered the keynote opening remarks, setting the stage for discussions on mobilizing public and private capital for systemic climate innovation. Dr. Dimitris Raptis contributed to the breakout sessions, engaging with international stakeholders on innovative financing frameworks to advance climate neutrality and resilience.

    This workshop builds on the momentum of the OMVS Systemic Innovation Workshop (4–5 September 2025, SNFCC, Athens), convened by the SDSN Global Climate Hub with AE4RIA and the UNFCCC Climate Innovation Hub. That event brought together high-level leaders, researchers, innovators, and 20 representatives of the Senegal River Basin Development Authority (OMVS) from Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal, to co-design pathways for climate neutrality and resilience.

    Keynote by Professor Phoebe Koundouri at the 17th Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility Conference in Nicosia

    At the 17th Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility Conference in Nicosia, Professor Phoebe Koundouri delivered a keynote on Profitability-Driven ESG Transformation, emphasizing that in today’s business reality, sustainability and profitability are not in conflict—they are mutually reinforcing when managed strategically.

    In her speech, she presented AE4RIA - Alliance of Excellence for Research and Innovation on Aephoria’s holistic framework and its practical applications for companies aiming to align with international sustainability standards while maximizing long-term value creation.

    AE4RIA Metrix offers tools and solutions that downscale the UN SDSN frameworks and quantify the ESG and SDG footprint of companies in line with CSRD. These decision-making tools assist companies in developing their pathways towards sustainability, creating true value beyond compliance. They also support the development of harmonized data collection processes across the value chain and the creation of a database that communicates with the provided tools.
