FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE: THE APPLICATION OF FRENE PEDAGOGY IS BRAKE IN THE 3rd HIGH SCHOOL  PERISTERIOU

In the framework of the "Sciences of Education" program of the Athens University of Economics and Business, in the academic year 2021-2022, a group work was prepared by the students Eleni Garitou, Victoria Marinou, Stampelou Maria, Charitakis Evangelos, Tomara Agathi and  Tsaka Ioanna, which concerned the study of a school unit and proposals for its improvement in its pedagogical mode of operation. As part of the work, the group of students / three undertook to investigate the results of the implementation of pedagogical, innovative actions in the operation of a school. These actions took place in the 3rd  high school of Peristeri.

The group work started with the stimulus of the innovative action of the program for the introduction of Frene pedagogy in the school. Frene pedagogy is composed of fundamental pedagogical principles such as cooperation, the cooperative organization of school life, free expression and communication, the "natural" method of learning and the connection of the school with the community-society. Thus, the team decided to plan actions in the 3rd high school of Peristeri, one of which concerned the pedagogical approach Frene. Specifically, in collaboration with the school administration and the student community, the technique of "Frene Board" was applied. Thus, a board was placed on the wall of the school, which was made by members of the group and through which each student was able to express his feelings and ideas. An image, a painting, a poem and other ways, are a source of inspiration and expression for everyone and for each individual. Through this action, students were given the opportunity to discover their personal way of expression and creativity. As all of the above are expressed anonymously, this table helped even the most introverted people to express themselves.

The main goal of the innovative action was to complete the whole table, with works, ideas, thoughts and whatever else the students wanted, as a result of which they were released. The action of the application of pedagogy Frene in the 3rd high school of Peristeri had positive results in the students while the group of students / three had the opportunity to connect the theory with the practice in real school conditions and to get the joy of the implementation of their work in students and to see in practice its positive results in the pedagogical operation of the school unit.

The aim of the "Sciences of Education" program of the Athens University of Economics and Business is to connect theory with practice so that students can design experiential activities, which promote the revision of the way of thinking and the applied practices in its teaching. to be able to build outlets from the "routine" of the school and the standardization of teaching by changing at their discretion the teaching background, means and methods of teaching.
