AE4RIA participation at COP28 UAE and Insights on Key Outcomes

This is AE4RIA Press Release on the 28th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) that took place from 30th November to 12th December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Building on the momentum from COP27, Professor Phoebe Koundouri, the founder and leader of AE4RIA, together with other AE4RIA’s key representatives, actively engaged in discussions and initiatives, promoting our commitment to addressing the pressing challenges of climate change and net-zero transition.

From Prof. Koundouri: “In my role as the head of initiatives like AE4RIA and SDSN Global Climate Hub, I advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration for climate action. This year’s COP highlights the need for global cooperation and innovation to achieve the ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement. In this context, the report “Modelling Net-Zero Pathways” from the SDSN Global Climate Hub provides crucial information on achieving net-zero emissions in various European regions. Similarly, the collaboration between AE4RIA and Huawei for the report “Twin Skills for the Twin Transition: Defining Green Digital Skills and Jobs” underscores the critical role of developing green digital skills for the transition to zero emissions. Furthermore, the SDSN task force report on the European Green Deal titled “Transforming Our World: Interdisciplinary Insights on the Sustainable Development Goals” offers comprehensive policy guidance, emphasizing the importance of aligning sustainable development initiatives with economic recovery strategies. These contributions from AE4RIA and the SDSN Global Climate Hub are vital for advancing the agenda of sustainable and resilient global development. These reports, announced during COP28, embody the interdisciplinary approach required for effective climate action”.
