Press Release: AE4RIA’s participation in EAERE 2023 Conference

We are thrilled to share AE4RIA’s participation in EAERE 2023

Message from Prof. Phoebe Koundouri:

Dear colleagues,

As President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) and Chair of the World Council of Environmental and Resource Economists Associations (WCEREA), I am thrilled with the success of our EAERE2023 annual conference, held in the coastal city of Limassol, one of the 100 European cities selected to receive EU support in achieving the goal of Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030, from June 27th to 30th.

EAERE, is one of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious scientific associations in the field of natural resource economics with approximately 1,200 members from over 60 countries. WCEREA, of which AAERE, AERE, AFAERE, and EAERE are members, acts as a coordinating organization. This council fosters collaboration among environmental economists globally and coordinates joint activities among its member associations. One of its significant responsibilities is to organize the World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists (WCERE).

We are excited to share this press release regarding AE4RIA’s participation in EAERE 2023!
Please note that this is not EAERE’s official conference press release, which will follow from EAERE’s communication team.

EAERE 2023 was a huge success, with over 700 environmental economists from around the world in attendance. This year’s event, organized by the Cyprus Institute, the Cyprus University of Technology, and the Department of Economics of the University of Cyprus, featured a diverse program that combined both in-person and hybrid events.

With over 1,200 paper submissions, we curated a program that included 487 selected papers, ensuring a high-quality and engaging experience for all participants. Through the efforts of our Sustainability Committee, we implemented actions to limit environmental impact, increase social engagement, and offset the CO2 emissions associated with the event.

I encourage you to continue supporting our scientific ecosystem and contributing to our collective mission of finding science-based solutions to the multi-crisis challenges we face, steering us toward a sustainable future.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who participated and contributed to the resounding success of EAERE2023.
