Konstantinos Androutsopoulos

Konstantinos Androutsopoulos is Associate Professor in Management Science at the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from University of Athens; M.Sc. in Statistics and Operational Research from University of Essex, UK; and Ph.D. in Management Science from AUEB. His research interests include: Management Science and Operations Research methods in Logistics Planning, Emergency Response Logistics, Hazardous Materials Transportation, Air Transportation Management, Flexible Transport Systems. His work has been published in highly ranked academic journals of Transportation, Management Science and Operational Research. He has been a principal investigator for various R&D projects funded by the European Commission and the Greek Government.


Diogenis Baboukardos

Dr Diogenis Baboukardos is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Athens University of Economics and Business. He is a visiting research fellow at the Essex Business School, University of Essex and a research affiliate of the Adam Smith Observatory of Corporate Reporting Practices at the University of Glasgow, UK. His research interests lie in the broad field of corporate reporting with a particular focus on issues related to sustainability and climate change reporting. His research has been published in various academic journals (such as the Journal of Accounting & Public Policy, British Accounting Review, Accounting Forum and Regional Studies) and it has been funded by professional bodies and regulators (such as the UK Financial Reporting Council, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland). He has also worked in consultancy projects in relation to the application of UN’s Sustainability Development Goals in local councils. He is the secretary of the BAFA Financial Accounting Reporting Special Interest Group and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy of the UK.

 

Nicholas Berketis

Nicholas G. Berketis serves as Manager and Senior Partner at J. Kouroutis & Co. Ltd., a leading insurance and reinsurance brokerage firm in Piraeus, Greece, while concurrently holding academic positions as a Lecturer at Frederick University in Cyprus and Course Leader for the Certificate in Marine Insurance at Lloyd's Maritime Academy in London. He brings exceptional academic credentials to his roles, including a PhD in Actuarial Science, an MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance from Sir John Cass Business School at City University London, and a BSc in Economics with Distinction from the University of Athens. As an active member of both the Piraeus Professional Chamber and the US Propeller Club, Port of Piraeus, Dr Berketis has established himself as a recognized authority in marine insurance, specializing in critical areas such as piracy, fishing vessels, ferries, and P&I reserves. His extensive research contributions have been widely disseminated through presentations at professional and academic conferences, as well as publications in peer-reviewed journals and industry press. He has been collaborating with the Department since 2015/6, teaching the elective course Marine Insurance and supervising the preparation of a dissertation.


George Chalamandaris

George Chalamandaris is Associate Professor in the Accounting and Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens, M.Sc. in Control Systems and Ph.D. in Quantitative Finance from Imperial College, London. He has substantial work experience in Natwest Markets and Royal Bank of Scotland in London, as well as in Emporiki Investment Bank and EFG Eurobank in Athens, holding senior positions in the areas of trading, risk management, financial engineering, structuring and alternative investments. His main research interests are in the fields of derivatives, credit risk and asset pricing involving dynamic trading strategies. His research work has been presented in many prestigious academic and practitioner’s conferences and has been published in books and highly acclaimed academic journals, such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, European Journal of Finance, etc.


Efthimios Demirakos

Efthimios Demirakos is a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and an M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the Alliance Manchester Business School. During his doctoral studies, he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a visiting scholar. Furthermore, he holds a B.B.A. from the Athens University of Economics and Business, the CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) and CMBE (Certified Management & Business Educator) professional qualifications, and a number of certificates from professional accountancy bodies. His research interests focus on equity valuation, market-based accounting, and forensic accounting. During his academic studies, he received numerous merit-based scholarships from several institutions and foundations. He has also received five Teaching Excellence Awards from the Athens University of Economics and Business.


Leonidas Doukakis

Leonidas Doukakis is the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Personnel and Professor of Accounting at the Athens University of Economics and Business (Department of Accounting and Finance). He has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels, covering subjects such as accounting, financial statement analysis, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. He has received teaching awards in recognition of his excellence and effectiveness in the educational process, as well as the “Research Excellence Enhancement” Award of the AUEB in recognition of his contribution to research. He has served as Assistant Professor at HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne, and as Visiting Professor at the University of Bern in Switzerland. He holds a BSc in Accounting and Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in International Accounting and Finance (with distinction) from the University of Strathclyde, and a PhD in Accounting from AUEB. During his doctoral studies, he was awarded a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). He has worked at Emporiki Bank and as an economic advisor at the Ministry of Transport and Communications. He has also served as the Vice President for Finance, Planning and Development, and as a member of the Governing Committee of the Hellenic Open University.


Michael Dooms

Michael Dooms is Full Professor of Strategy at Solvay Business School, University of Brussels (VUB). He holds BSc and MSc in Business Engineering (2001) and PhD in Applied Economics: Business and Technology (2010) from Solvay Business School. He teaches Port Management and Economics (Block 1) course at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (MEL). He is member of porteconomics.eu, the global PPRN network (Port Performance Research Network), as well as the acting Secretary of the International Association of Maritime Economists. He has worked as project manager and researcher on several research and consulting projects, which need a multi-disciplinary (integration of technical, economic and environmental criteria) and multi-stakeholder (public and private sector, local communities) approach. He was closely involved in the development of a strategic plan for the Belgian rail infrastructure manager Infrabel. He was the scientific and administrative coordinator of the PORTOPIA project, the largest EU funded research and development project on port performance and policy since the inception of the EU funded research and development programs.


Konstantinos Drakos

Dr. Konstantinos Drakos is Professor of Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds MSc and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Essex, funded by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. His research expertise is on Applied Econometrics and Finance and has published in academic journals such as the Journal of Applied Econometrics, the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Risk Analysis, the Journal of International Money and Finance, Economics Letters, and Economica. He has been awarded Postgraduate Teaching Awards in 2016-2017, 2015-2016, 2012-2013, 2010-2011, and 2008-2009. According to IDEAS he is ranked in the top 5% of Greece-based authors and the top 8% of Europe-based authors, while his research has been funded by the European Commission and the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.


Konstantina Georgiou

Konstantina (Nadine) Georgiou is an Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior at Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She teaches Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior at undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive training levels. Dr. Georgiou holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior, an MSc in Human Resource Management, and a BSc in Business Administration, from AUEB. She has professional experience in HR departments and research programs, and she has conducted numerous seminars in career counseling and job-seeking skills. She also has significant expertise in developing tools and methodologies to assess candidates’ skills and work efficiency.


Elvira Haezendonck 

Prof. dr. Elvira Haezendonck (Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Solvay Business School) is Full Professor (Gewoon Hoogleraar) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Visiting Professor at the University of Antwerp (UA), as well as at Erasmus University of Rotterdam (Maritime Economics and Logistics). Her research covers topics in the field of sustainable strategies and management, applied to infrastructure, (transport and industrial) clusters and complex projects. She has published various articles, books and book chapters in relation to project evaluation, sustainable strategies, competitive strategy and stakeholder management, and since 1996, she has been involved in over 100 national and EU research projects on for example strategic analyses and impact assessments in/for ports and infrastructure, and on complex project management. She teaches several strategy and (project) management courses on both bachelor and master level. She also takes up multiple board positions within and beyond academia. In 2022 Prof. dr. Elvira Haezendonck was elected as first female president of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME), the global academic association of maritime economists, and re-elected in 2024 for a second term. In 2024 she also became board member of BIG in Pipelines. She is independent board member at TINC since 2017 and serves in the University Board of VUB since 2015. Since 2010 she has held 4 consecutive Research Chairs at VUB on Public-Private Partnerships (2010-2014 and 2015-2018), on Infrastructure Asset Management (2019-2023) and currently one on Agile and Future-proof Infrastructure for Transport. Another 2 chairs have recently been appointed to her on Circular Monitoring for Ports, and Masterclasses in Future-proof Leadership and Strategy of VUB @ Ostend.


Panos Hatzipanayotou

Panos Hatzipanayotou is Professor Emeritus of Economics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the State University of New York (S.U.N.Y) Stony Brook. He served as Professor of Economics at AUEB during the period 1999-2024, as Associate and Full Professor at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, 1994-1999, as Assistant-Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut, USA, 1984-1994. He has also served as Visiting Professor at the University of Cyprus, and Visiting Research Fellow at Deakin University, Melbourne-Australia. He is Research Fellow of CES-ifo, Munich-Germany, the Institute of Economic Policy Studies (IMOP), Athens Greece, and the Center of Economic and Environmental Research, Greece. He served as a Department Chair (2008-09, 2017-2018), Director of Graduate Studies (2011-24), and a member of the University Council (2012-16). He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Center of Planning and Economic Research (ΚΕΠΕ), Athens-Greece, and a Member of the Educational Council of the Greek Diplomatic Academy, of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2024-). He serves as Referee in numerous Academic Journals, Member of Editorial Boards of Scientific Journals, as a Chair and Member of the Organizing and Scientific Committees of National and International Conferences and Workshops. His research interests include International Factor Mobility; Optimal Commercial Policy; Indirect Tax Reforms and Trade and Factor Tax Policies; Preferential Trading Agreements; Foreign Aid, Environmental Issues in International Trade. Nikolaos Karampinis

Nikolaos Karampinis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a BSc in Accounting and Finance, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a PhD in Accounting, all from the Athens University of Economics and Business. His research and teaching interests focus on Tax Accounting, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and the role of Management Accounting in supporting the formulation and implementation of long-term strategic objectives. His research has been published in reputable academic journals and presented at international conferences. He has been teaching Accounting and Taxation courses for many years at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Athens University of Economics and Business. In addition, he has extensive experience in executive education, having delivered training programs for business professionals and organizations such as Frontex and Thenamaris, among others. His teaching has been recognized with multiple excellence awards at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.


Kleanthis Katsaros 

Dr. Kleanthis Katsaros is an Assistant Professor at the University of Patras. He was postdoctoral researcher of Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) where he teaches Human Resources Management, Change Management and Leadership. He is also an adjunct professor at ESCE International Business School (Paris, France), Hellenic Open University (Patras, Greece), Open University of Cyprus (Nicosia, Cyprus) and OUS Royal Academy of Economics and Technology (Zürich, Switzerland). He has published in numerous international peer-reviewed academic journals (e.g. Journal of Applied Behavioral Science etc) while his research has appeared in major scientific conferences (e.g. Academy of Management etc.). His research interests focus on employees’ reactions to change and change leadership.


Manolis G. Kavussanos

Manolis G. Kavussanos is Professor of Finance and Shipping at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), Greece. He holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from the University of London (Queen Mary College and Birkbeck College) and a PhD in Applied Economics from Bayes Business School, City St George’s, University of London. He is the founder of the MSc in International Shipping, Finance and Management (ISFM) at AUEB, serving as its Director for ten years since its establishment in 2015, and founded the ISFM Laboratory in 2017.

He has held several academic leadership roles, including Director of the MSc and PhD programs in Accounting and Finance at AUEB, member of the steering committee of the same programs and of the Athens MBA, and founder and Director of the Laboratory for Applied Finance at AUEB (2003–2017). He has also coordinated finance-related programs at the Hellenic Open University and the Open University of Cyprus and co-launched and directed the MSc in Trade, Logistics and Finance at Bayes Business School before joining AUEB.

Professor Kavussanos has served the academic and professional community extensively. He has been an elected Council member of the International Association of Maritime Economists, Vice President and Council member of the Hellenic Association of Maritime Economists, member of the Board of the Hellenic Institute of History of Commercial Shipping, and independent non-executive Board member of a Greek bank, where he chaired the Remuneration Committee and served on the Audit Committee. He has also served on editorial boards of international journals and on award committees for major academic and professional distinctions.

Previously, he held academic positions as Reader, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer in Shipping Economics and Finance at Bayes Business School (UK). He has been Visiting Professor at leading universities worldwide, including the National University of Singapore, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Shanghai Maritime University, and others. He has also acted as consultant and expert evaluator for the European Commission and other public and private organizations.

His research focuses on finance, shipping economics, and risk management. He has published extensively in leading international journals such as the Journal of Banking & Finance, Energy Economics, and Transportation Research Part E, and has authored and edited influential books, including Derivatives and Risk Management in Shipping and the International Handbook of Shipping Finance. His work has received international awards, including the Hanjin Prize, and has been cited thousands of times. He has supervised numerous PhD students and has received teaching excellence awards in the UK and Greece. Since 2020, he has been ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in his field according to Stanford University.


Manolis Konstantinidis

Manolis Konstantinidis is Manager of the Legal Department in a ship management company located in Greece, which in 2026 manages approximately 80 dry, tanker and container vessels. He mainly deals with charterparty disputes and cargo claims, which are in principle arbitrated at LMAA and / or before local courts all over the world. He also deals with S&P disputes, collision disputes, shipbuilding contracts and corporate financing matters / disputes. He obtained his LLB and PhD from the Law School of the University of Thrace and LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton. His interests include carriage of goods by sea, charterparties, bills of lading, general admiralty law, limitation of liability and general average. He is a member of the Piraeus Bar Association, entitled to plead before the Court of Appeal, and a supporting member of LMAA and a member of the LMAA supporting members liaison committee. He is visiting speaker, in certain aspects of Maritime Law, at Athens Law School of the University of Athens, and has participated in numerous international and national conferences pertaining to Maritime Law. He has several publications in the legal press, including his PhD thesis.


Panagiotis Konstantinou

Panagiotis Konstantinou is Associate Professor of International Macroeconomics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Athens and a MA and a Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute, Florence, Italy. Before joining AUEB, he was member of staff at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece and Brunel University, London, UK. He has also been a visiting scholar at the European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). His research focuses on issues in international economics and finance, with emphasis in quantitative applications. Recent funding for his research come from John Latsis Foundation and the Research Center of AUEB. His publications appear in top tier journals, such as: American Economic Review, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Economics Letters and Review of International Economics.


Theodore Krintas

Dr. Theodoros N. Krintas has worked in the Asset Management and Technology industries for more than 30 years and has been a senior executive since 1995. He is focused on the development, evolution and succession of businesses and has managed more than €1.7B in equities and bonds internationally. Being one of the few who have the opportunity to move between finance and technology, he is currently the Founder and CEO of Koubaras Ltd, a strongly growing consulting company that is also an EN.A consultant and supports interested companies to the process for listing and trading on the Alternative Market of the Athens Stock Exchange. He is also Visiting Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Excelia Business School of France.


Gianluca Mattarocci

Gianluca Mattarocci is full professor of Banking at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and visiting professor at Athens University of Economics and Business, LUISS, LUISS Business School and Institute of Management and Technology. He holds a PhD in Banking and Finance and master of science in Asset management from Tor Vergata University of Rome. He is currently the director of the master in Real Estate Finance at LUISS Business School and the director of the bachelor in Business Administration & Economics at Tor Vergata University of Rome. He is board member of the European Real Estate Society and former president of the European Financial Management Association.


Thomas Moutos

Thomas Moutos is Professor of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), and Research Fellow of CESifo (University of Munich). He holds PhD and MSc in Economics from McMaster University (Canada) and BSc Economics from University of Athens. Previous full time academic positions include University of Glasgow (UK) and University of Stirling (UK), while positions as Visiting Professor include the Universities of Dresden, Mainz, and Munich (Germany), Kobe (Japan), and Queensland (Australia). He has been Director of the Full-Time Graduate Programme in International Economics and Finance and of the Executive MSc Programme in European Studies at AUEB, and member of the Council of Economic Advisers, Ministry of Finance, Greece. His main fields of interest are macroeconomics and international economics, while his work in these areas has been published in many highly ranked refereed international scientific journals. He has coordinated/participated in several research and consultancy projects for private and public entities, and international organizations.


Stella Moysiadou

Stella Moysiadou is Adjunct Lecturer and Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive training levels on a broad portfolio of courses which includes Maritime Economics and Business, Financial Derivatives, Financial Management, Mathematics for Economics and Business, among others. Her research interests lie in the fields of Finance, Economics and Shipping. Her work has been published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and books, presented in international scientific conferences and international organisations, such as the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) annual conference, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and others. Her research has attracted funding by research centres and institutions, such as the AUEB Research Centre and Propondis Foundation. She holds a Ph.D. in Finance, Economics and Shipping (AUEB), an M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance (AUEB) and a B.Sc. in Economics (University of Macedonia). She is a member of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME).


Amalia Nikolopoulou 

Amalia Nikolopoulou is an Adjunct Lecturer and Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She received her BSc from the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2008 and her PhD in Operations Research from AUEB in 2016. Her research interests focus on the design, development and application of mathematical models and computationally intelligent algorithms to aid decision making for transportation and logistics problems. Amalia has presented her research work in international peer-reviewed academic journals and conferences. She has participated as a scientific project manager in Greek and European-funded research projects related to Transportation and Maritime Logistics systems. She is also Adjunct Lecturer at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Hellenic Open University.


Theo Notteboom

Theo Notteboom is Professor of Port and Maritime Economics at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Antwerp and the Faculty of Sciences of Antwerp Maritime Academy, and Chair Professor at the Maritime Institute of Ghent University, Belgium. Previously, he held academic positions at Dalian Maritime University and Shanghai Maritime University in China. He is co-founder & co-director of PortEconomics. He is a working member of the Belgian Royal Academy of Overseas Sciences, and former president and vice-president of International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME). He is cofounder and codirector of porteconomics.eu, an online platform on port studies. He has published around 200 papers in first-tier academic journals. He co-authored the widely used textbook Port Economics, Management & Policy (2nd edition, 2026). He is editor, associate editor or editorial board member of a dozen academic journals in the field of maritime economics and logistics.


Leonidas Rompolis 

Dr. Leonidas Rompolis is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Athens, an M.Sc. in Statistics and Stochastic Models in Economics and Finance from Université Paris 7 and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a Ph.D. in Finance from AUEB. Prior to his current position, he served as a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Cyprus and as Lecturer and Assistant Professor in Finance at AUEB. His research interests include asset pricing, valuation of stocks, bonds, and derivatives, financial mathematics, computational finance, financial econometrics, and corporate financial management. His research has been supported by Greek and European research funding organizations. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Review of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Empirical Finance, Quantitative Finance, Journal of Futures Markets, and European Financial Management. He has also served as a referee for several prominent academic journals in finance.


Athanasios Sakkas

Athanasios Sakkas is Assistant Professor in Finance at the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Before joining AUEB, he has served as an Assistant Professor in Finance at the University of Nottingham and Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Finance at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom (UK). He is also a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA) in the UK. He holds a PhD in Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in Banking and Financial Management from the University of Piraeus, and an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. His research interests lie in the areas of empirical asset pricing and investments. His research work has been presented in several international academic conferences as well as professional organizations and hedge funds. His research has received grant from Amundi Asset Management and award from the INQUIRE UK and the Southern Finance Association (USA). His work has been published in international peer-reviewed academic journals such as, among others, the Journal of Banking & Finance, European Journal of Operational Research,  Financial Management, Journal of Financial Markets, and Financial Analysts Journal.


Panagiota Sapouna 

Panagiota Sapouna is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Piraeus and currently serves as an External Academic Collaborator at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She holds a PhD, as well as an MBA and a BSc in Accounting and Finance, from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Before joining the University of Piraeus, she held full-time academic positions in UK higher education institutions. Notably, she was appointed as Lecturer in Management and served as the Programme Leader for the MSc in International Business Management at Glasgow Caledonian University. Additionally, she was employed as an Early Career Fellow in Strategic Management at the University of Stirling. Alongside her academic roles in the UK, she completed a two-year post-graduate programme in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and was awarded the title of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in the United Kingdom.  Her research interests lie on corporate and business-level decision making, internationalisation strategies, entrepreneurial choices, and decision making under uncertainty. She has presented her work at international conferences, published in highly ranked academic journals (i.e., Journal of Small Business Management, International Small Business Journal, Management International Review and The International Journal of Human Resource Management), and contributed to research and consultancy projects. In addition to her role at the University of Piraeus, she serves as an External Examiner for UK higher education institutions. She previously held this role at Staffordshire University and currently serves as an External Examiner at Glasgow Caledonian University for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the field of Management. In parallel with her academic work, from 2016 to 2025, she held the position of Review Auditor at the Dispute Resolution Unit of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) in Greece, where she has been engaged in the resolution of complex tax and audit disputes.


Georgia Siougle 

Georgia Siougle is Professor in Accounting at Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She holds a B.A. in Business Administration, an MSc in Banking and Finance and a Ph.D. in Accounting from AUEB. She began her career as assistant certified auditor at Arthur Andersen (Greece). Her teaching interests are in the areas of Financial Accounting, Strategic Business Reporting, and in Financial Statement Analysis. Her research interests include, IFRS disclosures, Equity Offerings and Investments. She has published extensively in major international scientific journals, including the Review of Accounting Studies, the International Journal of Accounting, the Journal of Futures Markets, and the European Accounting Review. During her Ph.D. studies she received an EU Marie Curie Fellowship from the University of Manchester. She is a member of the European Accounting Association and The Marie Curie Fellowship Association.


Spyros Spyrou 

Spyros Spyrou, is a Professor of Finance at the Department of Accounting & Finance, Athens University of Economics & Business (AUEB). Between 2019 and 2022 he has served as a member in the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission. In the past he has served as the Director of the MSc in Accounting and Finance Programmes, the Head of the Department of Accounting & Finance, as the Erasmus Program coordinator for the Department of Accounting & Finance, among others. He has been appointed as a Lecturer at Athens University of Economics & Business in 2001. Before that he was a Lecturer at the University of Durham (UK, 1999-2001) and Middlesex University Business School (UK, 1997-1999). He holds a PhD in Finance from Brunel University (UK) in 1997, an MSc in Business Finance from Brunel University (1993), and a BSc in Economics from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (1990). His research interests are in the area of asset pricing and investor behaviour. He has published in refereed academic journals such as: Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, European Financial Management, Energy Journal, Energy Economics, Journal of Futures Markets, International Review of Financial Analysis, The Manchester School, among others. His teaching portfolio includes a large number of postgraduate modules (Money & Capital Markets, Financial Engineering, Security Investment Analysis, Portfolio Management, Behavioral Finance, Risk Management & Derivatives) and undergraduate modules (Money & Capital Markets, Investments, Security Valuation and Portfolio Management, International Finance, Derivative Markets), taught at the University of Durham, at Middlesex University Business School, and at Athens University of Economics & Business.


John Synodinos

John Synodinos is Head of Market Risk Sector and Assistant General Manager of Eurobank Ergasias, member of the Board of Directors of Eurobank Asset Management, and member of the Group’s Assets and Liabilities Committee. He holds PhD from Stanford University (USA) in Experimental High Energy Physics and B.A. in Physics from Harvard University, USA. Previous positions held include Eurobank Ergasias as quantitative analyst in the Market Risk Sector; Market Risk Sector, Operations and Development Manager; Manager, Risk & Premium Management Division, Euler–Hermes Emporiki; and business consultant at Strategic Decisions Group, San Fransisco, California, USA. He has been an invited speaker or visiting professor on Risk Management at Athens University of Economics and Business, the Hellenic Management Association, and the Athens Technological Institute. Also, he was member of the Greek team in the 26th International Mathematical Olympiad, Helsinki, Finland. 


Andrianos Tsekrekos

Andrianos Ε. Tsekrekos is a Professor of Financial Derivatives and Real Options at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He is also the Director of the Applied Finance Lab of AUEB. He is a graduate of AUEB (with a degree in Operations Research and Marketing) and holds an M.Sc. in Finance from the University of Lancaster. He received a scholarship from Lancaster University Management School as a Ph.D. Candidate in Accounting & Finance and he completed his thesis in 2003. After completing his Ph. D. thesis, he worked as a lecturer at Lancaster University (Department of Accounting and Finance) and at Durham Business School (Department of Economics and Finance) in the United Kingdom, before returning to AUEB in 2006, as a lecturer at the Department of Accounting and Finance. Between May 2021 and August 2022 he served as the Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance. His research interests revolve around financial derivatives, real options valuation, topics in real estate, stochastic and implied volatility models, accounting information quality and its impact on capital markets. His research has been published in highly respected scientific journals, such as the Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control and European Financial Management, among others.


Nikolaos Ventikos 

Dr Nikolaos P. Ventikos is Professor in the Laboratory for Maritime Transport at the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. His expertise is in marine safety; risk engineering; (oil) marine pollution; human reliability (incl. human centered design); marine casualty investigation; maritime security; systems engineering; offshore and environmental risk; and statistical modeling. He has published and presented his work in journals, such as Marine Pollution Bulletin, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Maritime Policy and Management, Ships and Offshore Structures, Journal of Risk Research etc and in more than 80 scientific conferences. Dr Ventikos was awarded the G.P. Livanos Grand Prize on Environmental Issues sponsored by the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping (2000). Apart from Greek, he is fluent in English and French and has basic knowledge of Arabic.


Dimitris Zissis

Dimitris Zissis is Assistant Professor of Management Science at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is visiting faculty at Warwick Business School (MSc in Business Analytics) - University of Warwick and has held research and teaching positions at the University of Bath School of Management, Norwich Business School (University of East Anglia), University of Liverpool and at Cranfield School of Management. He holds a PhD in Management Science from Athens University of Economics & Business, an MSc in Statistics & Operations Research, and BSc in Mathematics, both from the University of Athens. His research has been published in leading international journals in the areas of operations management, such as in Production and Operations Management, Omega, and in Transportation Research Part D among others, and has been presented in international conferences and fora such as those organized by INFORMS, EURO, Operational Research Society, etc. His research interests lie primarily in the fields of quantitative modeling of supply chain operations using innovative frameworks informed by game theory as well as in optimization techniques. Dimitris has also participated in various Greek, EU, and industry-funded research projects.


Loukas Zygouros

Loukas J. Zygouros is an Adjunct Professor of Maritime Law at Democritus University of Thrace, Law School. He is also a visiting lecturer, in Salvage Law, at Athens Law School of the University of Athens. He is specialized Maritime Lawyer, entitled to plead before the Supreme Court. He is member of the Athens Bar Association. He obtained his LL.B. and PhD in Maritime Law from Athens Law School and his LL.M. in Maritime Law from Cardiff University, U.K. He has attended numerous International Maritime Law Conferences held in Piraeus. The main fields of his legal practice include Litigation and Legal Consultation both to individuals and companies in the fields of Civil, Commercial and Maritime Law. His research interests include Admiralty law, Carriage of Goods by Sea and Charterparties, Law of Salvage and Oil Pollution, Marine Insurance and Corporate Law. He has published six monographs in the field of Maritime Law and one monograph in the field of Company Law.
