Excellence and Distinctions of DMST Students

The Best Data Showcase Award was given to Antonis Gortzis and Dimitris Mitropoulos, PhD Students and researchers at the Business Analytics Lab, of the Department of Management Science and Technology of Athens University of Economics and Business, during the "MSR' 18: 15th International Conference on Mining Software Repositories, for their paper entitled "VulinOSSA dataset of security  vulnerabilities in open-source systems", supervised by Professor Diomidis Spinellis.

For the second consecutive year, Students of the Department of Management Science and Technology of Athens University of Economics and Business, M. Andrianou, A. Tsaggari, I. Kouroupapi and Z. Kotttis, won the first place in the KPMG contest "Ace the Case" held in Athens in May. Ace The Case, which includes a seminar and a contest, aims at developing and enhancing students' skills in creating and analyzing business plans, time management, teamwork, communication and presentation techniques, and creative thinking.

Department of Management Science and Technology Team, named "CargOps", consisting of the students B. Georgopoulos, N. Dureliadis, P. Kazantzis and E. Potamianos with Professor Chr. Tarantilis as a scientific advisor, was the winning team of the JA Start Up Student Initiative for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship, organized in May by Junior Achievement Greece. Their innovative entrepreneurial idea for the full control of the merchant containers during the transfer process was designed and created within the framework of the course "Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship", with course tutors Prof. G. Doukidis and Dr. S. Lounis.

The startup companies isMood, Shopmind and Nimbata were honored with the first three awards in the Startups d.Day competition, within the framework of the digital economy forum 2018, organized by the Hellenic Association of Information Technology and Communications (SEPE). The start-ups companies, whose founders are graduates and students of the Department of Management Science and Technology, A. Kassimati (co-founder of isMOOD and a graduate of DMST), A. Griva and V. Stavrou (ShopMind and PhD candidates) and D. Pournarakis (co- Nimbata and DMST Ph.D.), ranked first in the categories Social media analytics services based on sentiment analysis, Retail customer analytics services based on shopping missions analysis and Digital marketing services based on call data.
