Course Description
Competition Policy: theory and practice. Definition of the relevant market and assessment of market power. Business practices that are addressed by Competition Law. Abuse of market dominance, agreements between firms and mergers. Economic analysis of mergers and identification of the impact of mergers in the context of Competition Law enforcement. Theory and practice of market regulation. Natural monopolies, price regulation, access pricing, ex ante regulation of multi-product firms, and the role of regulatory authorities. Regulation under imperfect information.
