On Monday, November 24, 2025, from 12:10 to 13:10, a seminar–talk will be given by Dr. Vasiliki Alexandrou, who has long experience as a Lead Clinical SAS Programmer and Analyst in a pharmaceutical company in Switzerland. Dr. Alexandrou will share her personal experience and discuss with us the professional opportunities she encountered, as well as the challenges she may have faced throughout her career in Greece and abroad.

The seminar is addressed to both undergraduate and postgraduate students and will be held in Greek.

Summary

The presentation will highlight the diversity of the possibilities and challenges of a statistician in the industry through the experience and work journey of the speaker. Specific methodological aspects related to biostatistics will be discussed. Take away points for personal development and skills will be briefly addressed.

Short Bio

Dr. Vasiliki Alexandrou is currently the Lead Clinical Programmer in Novocure, a device oncologic company based near Zug, CH. She has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. Her career started as a Post-Doc researcher for the European Commission (Italy). She then moved to Switzerland, where she worked in banking (as a risk manager, EFG Bank) and pharma (biostatistician/statistical programmer, Roche, Cross Alliance, Helsinn Healthcare). She holds a B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Athens, Department of Mathematics.
